It’s the most romantic day of the year, and apart from our wedding day, it’s the time that most women want to look their very best as they enjoy time with their partner’s. The shops might be full of slinky cocktail dresses, strappy tops, and tight tiny skirts but if you’re curvy woman you might be thinking that there’s nothing out there for you. Don’t worry though because I put together an easy peasy curvy girl’s guide to Valentine’s Day couture!
Red Lace Dress
When thinking about what to wear come February 14th, you need to consider what you’ll be doing first. For example, dinner and drinks at a fancy restaurant downtown requires a bit more thought than say if you were going bowling! For a look that’s classy, elegant and just a little bit sexy pair a red lace dress with black kitten, or stiletto heels, and simple gold jewelry with your hair in a half updo. If you’re nervous about wearing such an in-your-face color then you could always wear a black lace dress with a red coat, scarf or shoes. I know matchy matchy but it’s cute and festive! Worried about having your arms on show? Look for plus size dresses that tend to have 3/4 length sleeves as well as being just a little looser in the hips and bust.
Pink Flirty Jumpsuit
Believe it or not, there are tons of jumpsuits out there that look stunning on larger ladies. Try to look for one that gives you plenty of coverage, you don’t want to be spending time adjusting it in a very unladylike place instead of staring lovingly into your partner’s eyes. LOL. A cute patterned jumpsuit worn with pretty wedges and duster/cardigan is great for a walk by the beach, or out in the woods if you’ve headed into the country for a cozy weekend away. The beauty of jumpsuits is that unlike other outfits, what to wear is decided for you as the jumpsuit, all-in-one item. But beware, to go to the bathroom is a hassle.Sigh.
Perfect In Peplum
If you’ve planned a daytime date such as a trip to the movies, a riverside lunch or a picnic in the park then a peplum top is ideal. It’ super adorbs! Not only is it a little more special than just a T-shirt or jumper peplum tops, and skirts are designed to flair at the waist and skim the tummy region. These tops are beautifully made and some even combine two or more fabrics such as polyester, scuba style knitwear and lace. Why not take your outfit to the next level? Wear your pretty peplum top with a pair of dark indigo jeans, flat boots or bejewelled sandals with long, dangly earrings and a statement, or beaded necklace.
Take It To The Max
For show stopping, breathtaking hollywood glamor there’s nothing better than a v neck, floaty sleeved maxi dress in a gorgeous jewel toned color like a deep plum. If you’re lucky enough to be attending a Valentine’s Day ball or formal event, then this is the outfit you’ve been looking for. Even high-end boutiques cater to curvy girls, and you’ll find a range of excellent hand sewn gowns featuring crystals, sequins, and jewels that are sure to make your man’s eyes sparkle. Yassss!!!!
