Okay so the fashion madness has come to an end and now we can all look back at our favorite shows and drool over the amazing outfits or create Pinterest boards with all the looks that inspired us this fashion week. I’m always in awe of how much the fashion students and graduates deliver each and every year for NYFW. I’m in love with the all black looks which screams edgy, I literally can’t stop drooling they seem to step their game up each season.
sDesigual is another fave of mine it’s always so colorful and bright so different from the normal shows that you usually see during fashion week. It always makes me happy beciase the models are happy especially when I see 20 yr old model Chantelle Brown — also known as Winnie Harlow doing her thing and breaking barriers or the so-called “normal”look at Fashion week… This model has a skin condition called Vitiligo but has recently landed two major fashion campaign with Desigual and Diesel, so proud of her!
Desigual Fall 2015 showed a collection featuring geometric motifs in black and white, multi-colored cardigans and structured dresses in watercolors, of course their were signature Desigual floral skirts in printed tulle and cocoon coat as well, which I adored.
My other fave was DKNY but you knew that was coming right. Read all about how I met Donna Karan herself and my collaborations with the designer here and here. For starters there’s really one obvious reasons well 2 that I would love this collection- have you guessed it?
Yep!! Bright Coats. I’m a sucker for them. DKNY collection was so simple and chic very New York if you ask me. Especially on colder days- everyone needs that standout coat. Donna Karan presented her Fall 2015 collection with warm coats, I definitely need to add a Red one to my collection. I like this option here and here . My Bright coat obsession here, here, here and can you guess my next favorite thing? Yep- Turtlenecks. These ones came up to your chin, so chic and modern. This collection did not have DKNY signature taxi yellow or graphic prints instead there were looks that every New Yorker can achieve. My favorite looks wearing a turtleneck here and here.
Next is are Designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka, I always enjoy their shows because it always includes stand out gowns that every woman should own for that special occasion. BadgleyMischka never disappoints. This year’s collection was inspired by Spain. The collection featured the baroque embellishment traditions of the matador combined with the severity and restraint of Modernist architecture. This season, Badgley Mischka experiments with different textures and dimension and standout prints along with embellishment for a luxurious feel. Models strutted down the runway wearing vintage beehives hairstyles which complimented the dresses perfectly.
Lastly, Son Jung Wan, which Fabrics consisted of merino wool and handcrafted knits and beautiful color combinations. There were bright metallic’s leather and multi-colored furs . I love her collections always an effortless vibe about it. This collection screams Old Hollywood glamour, its inspired by the romantic MGM films of the 1950’s era like, Gone In The Wind and Show Boat. I like it because it’s different and very retro inspired – so retro-meets modern would be the best way to describe it for sure . I hope to see some retro styles on the runway this Oscar Weekend.
*My favorite moment from NY Fashion Week would have to be North West and Anna Wintour super classic hahah ( Anna’s Face)
Nori & Anna Wintour
The Most talked about moment would have to be the debut of designer and rapper Kanye West clothing line. The rapper, teamed up with Adidas,to showed a bizarre collection of flesh-toned body stockings, which I hated lol but he still managed to get a pretty dope front row, if I do say so my self (Singing);P
So there you have it-my fave shows and best moments of this seasons Fashion Week all summed up…I know.. I know… I still owe you a Street Style post Part 2…coming up…Ohh and get ready for my Oscar looks too…Woop!
