Hey my loves, so I’m sure I wasn’t the only one that saw Fantasia Barrino wearing this beautiful Sergio Hudson dress and Dolce Gabbana shoes ,with her hair perfectly styled with a blue headband. It gave me Blair from Gossip Girl vibes and I loved it. But honestly what did it for me was the blue tights. I swear the tights which was probably the most inexpensive thing, is really what took this look over the top. I loved everything about it. It’s so feminine and cute, I just knew I had to redo this look. But you guys know my love of doing these posts though right right?
Now I wasn’t sure how I was going to duplicate the look but I knew it would come to me soon enough- and well it did. Funny enough but I had been trying on this blazer for the hubbz for awhile as I wanted to wear it for a photoshoot- but every look I put on we hated it- that’s until I remembered that Fantasia wore something similar. I immediately went to my closet and then straight to instagram to compare the look and it was close enough.
The blazer was a nice plaid print and most importantly it had shoulder pads. The icing on the cake was when I realized I could wear blue tights as well. I opted for a more turquoise color as it went better with my look. I of course wore my headwrap and I loved how it came out. I felt so girly ya’ll and really haven’t worn colored tights in ages. The last time was 16 years ago- I had hot pink tights and a leopard print one that I wore relentlessly hahah. I was obsessed. I got them both from H&M. I want to get back to that Kelly. The girl who took fashion risks, who didn’t care what people thought and really wore what felt good to me.
Okay, so you might be asking yourself how do I dress like a celebrity if I do get inspired? Well, the first rule is you don’t have to look exactly like them but you can take a few ideas. Start in your closet; I rarely buy brand-new clothes just to look like a celeb. Try to find similar pieces or maybe the same color. Now if you checked your closet and still can’t find a similar item, then that’s when you visit your local thrift store. Now, I thrifted this blazer years ago in the Bronx – just never got a chance to wear it. The thing is thrift stores have tons of hidden gems, if you have the time and patience you can score a lot of great items. I have so many good coats and blazers from thrift shopping it’s amazing. So I suggest if you’re ever in need of a particular item and don’t want to spend a lot of money please a beg take yourself to the thrift store.
